Testimonies and memories |

I’m Cristina
Margarita and I met 23 years ago and I’ve
been her accompanist for 18 years.
We enjoyed each other and laughed about
daily small things, we became great “pals” and on more than
one opportunity we used to “escape” or “show up”, out of the
blue on cattle auctions in Rufino, or on a Birthday in
Tandil, where no-one knew we’d go. She’d plan it and I
followed.
She used to enjoy parties a lot, and she
would have a great time planning what color she’d wear, how
she’d comb her hair; and everybody would talk about her
afterwards because of her great style.
She used to enjoy a lot receiving guests
at her house for tea time, her house needed to be both
impeccable surrounded by a merry and cheerful atmosphere.
Her house was a reflection of her life:
happy, luminous and full of life. |

She loved music and sometimes she’d sing with
her quiet voice. She loved plants, animals, the country itself;
and in spite of not enjoying much the weather when it was cold,
it was not an impediment for her, she would go out and return
wet and really happy.
We also had our “downs”, and we respected our
silence.
Margarita spiritually helped me a lot and
made me closer to God during some rough time on my life.
She had the gift
of hearing and advising wisely. On one of our plenty talks we
talked about death, but she knew how to look beyond it and told
me: “Cristina imagine this, when we meet in heaven, if God wants
to, you will be able to see me walking, running and dancing,
Isn’t that wonderful!… Yes, Margarita, I’d be wonderful… I’m
sure that you are running, jumping and dancing, with you lovely
smile and your great eyes full of heaven.
Today I want to
thank God for giving me the chance to meet Margarita, admire her
courage, praise her brave achievements, receive her example of
total abandonment to God and her infinite love for life.
Today I feel
that Margarita is with us, enjoying our love, and I’m certain
that we will never forget her. |

Margarita had the experience of feeling her
heart vibrate with the things of God, she was always
searching for a deep encounter with Jesus. I remember how
she used to pass by running through Suipacha’s Street in
order to get to Mass at “Socorro’s” Basilica, I even
remember the privileged spot on which she used to sit, spot
from where she contemplated the great mystery of a God that
out of love wanted, and still today, wants to stay in the
form of bread and wine for us. You can’t imagine the great
gift it was to contemplate those peaceful deep light blue
eyes, eyes that were like the ocean, those eyes were
accompanied by an eternal smile. I always felt that when she
smiled it was God taking her expressions to smile at me, and
I believe that I was not the only one who experienced that.

Margarita’s
life was and is for my vocational life a true oasis where
rest, gather strength and charge energies to love and search
God’s will. I believe her life and especially her writings
are like an echo of Our Father God’s words, echo that even
today still resounds in the heart of every person that met
her. An echo that do not belong us. Not sharing her life to
other people would be not understanding why she lived so
many years among us. Today, more than ever, we argentine
people need to recover hope, we need to recover the will to
love and the need of God, and shout: It is possible! ; I
love life!”

Margarita helped me a lot, she made me closer
to God, she helped me to accept and to offer the crosses of my
life, to abandon myself to God’s will and she also helped me to
say “Lord, Be it, thy will be done and not mine”.
I vividly remember a conversation
I once had with her, it made me feel so good: she asked me about
an unpleasant event of my life. It still touches me today to
remember how she asked about it, on such a gentle and fine
way…she even said: “If you don’t want to answer you don’t need
to”. That made me realize that in spite of her disease, she
cared a lot about what’d happen to us.
One time she made me make a phone call
because she have seen on T.V that some people had been held
captivate and she wanted to make sure they were all right. I
also remember Holy Pope, John Paul II visit to Argentina,
Margarita was standing in front of the Nunciature and when the
Pope arrived, he went straight to greet her, I remember how
happy she and the rest of the people there were.
